A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Robert Warren Shockey will be 1:00PM Monday, November 30, 2020 at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service. Bob will lie in state for visitation on Sunday November 29, 2020 from 2:00PM~5:00PM at the funeral home. Bob passed away with loving family by his side on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the age of 76 years.

Robert was born on July 14, 1944 in Tulsa, OK to his parents, Harry and Charlotte (Kelsey) Shockey. He attended elementary and junior high in Tulsa, then graduated from high school in Miami, Oklahoma. He went on to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Tulsa and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Oklahoma City University. He spent his entire career with the Tulsa Police Department, where he helped coordinate the Field Training Officer (FTO) program for rookie officers. He was also a member of the FOP Lodge. Robert retired from the Tulsa Police Department as a Corporal in 2012 after serving for over 40 years.

Robert proudly served our country as a U.S. Marine for 25 years. He fought in the Vietnam War from November 1966 until August 1970. In 1983, he joined the Marine Corps Reserves where he did two tours in Desert Storm in 1991 and 2003. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2004.

As a child, some of Robert's fondest childhood memories include riding horses with his cousins at their home in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, as well as fishing with his father, brother, uncle, and cousins. He had special memories of picking his father up on Friday evenings, making the most of every weekend before they took him back to work on Sunday afternoons in Claremore, Oklahoma as his dad was a lineman for Southwestern Bell during the week.

He met the love of his life, Rhonda Minson in 1975. They were married on May 11, 2012 in Miami, OK, and made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob and Rhonda made it a tradition of traveling to many exoctic places making many memories together, their preferred destination was Sandals Resort in Negril, Jamiaca.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Charlotte Shockey, and brother Don Edgar Shockey.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Rhonda Minson-Shockey of Tulsa, his brother and sister in laws: Andrea and Duane Sitton, Marilyn Minson, Jane Minson, Liz and Aaron Minson, Randy Minson, Bud Lefler, and Clark Minson along with many special cousins: Jim and Patty Love and Kay Ellen Captain.

The family wishes to thank the daily caregivers, who soon became like family: Kristi, Jr, Gabby and Katy.

The family wishes to give thanks for the great care provided to Bob by Anita, Allan and Claudetta with Miller Hospice and Samantha from Oxford Health Care.

Memorial donations can be can to the Alzheimer's Association or USMC Toys for Tots Foundation.
