Robert Leon Carpenter passed away with his loving wife by his side on March 26, 2019, at the age of 79 years. Bob was born on June 24, 1939 in Fairview, OK to his parents, George and Wilda (Humphrey) Carpenter. Bob proudly served our country in the Marines, then the Navy and the National Guard in Arkansas. He met the love of his life, Lois Carpenter Fennell, and they were married on August 29, 1963, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He worked as a Tool & Die Maker for Zebco for 28 years until he retired. He helped design several different rods & reels and other fishing equipment. He assisted the R & D department in the creation of many patents involving fishing equipment.
Bob was a story teller and jokester. He enjoyed fishing, and often joked that he actually got paid to go fishing because of his job. He was a member of the Northside Christian church in Broken Arrow for 18 years. Bob helped with Bible School at Northside Christian church, designing and making his own props and scenery for each of the bible stories he taught. Bob and Lois have been Highland Park Christian Church members for the past 19 years. He was very active in church and mission work. Bob was a very talented handyman; he even built kitchens for the mission in Thailand. After his retirement, he built furniture for family members and was a talented woodworker. He loved working with his hands. He turned and carved wooden bowls and even ventured into painting with oils, his subjects were mainly of flowers and animals, and a few landscapes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Wilda Carpenter; brothers, Pete Carpenter and Bruce Carpenter and sister, Opal Carpenter.
Bob leaves many loving memories with his family, Lois Carpenter; daughter, Irena Fridenberg and husband Gordon; brothers, Allan Carpenter and Frank Carpenter; sister, Wanda Dixon; grandchildren, Amber Lightfoot and fiancé Jimmy Bird, Andie Miller and husband Chris, Walter Coats; great-grandchildren, Jimmy Lightfoot, Christopher Bird, Aubrey Miller, Collin Miller, and Sarina Wilson, as well as many other loving family members and a host of friends.
Memorial Service will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Highland Park Christian Church, 5708 East 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135.
