A service to honor and celebrate the life of Robert Gene Engles will be 11:00AM Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Jenks. The family will receive friends at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Rob passed away February 22, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital, he was 70.
Rob was born on December 19, 1948 in Tulsa, Ok to Elmer and Elzetta (Smith) Engles. He married Mary Hohulski on September 28, 1968. Rob worked for 20 plus years at BS&B Safety Systems. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. In life some of Rob’s favorite past times were going to the lake, spoiling his grandkids and watching them in any sport/activity they were participating in. He loved having huge family parties. He enjoyed doing paint and body work and could fix anything with bondo or a good cuss word. He would tell you what he thought whether you liked it or not, but you always knew where you stood with him and respected him for it. He was the driving force behind building the Jenks Youth Quarterback Club into the facility and program that it is today. He spent many hours every weekend at the field building it from the ground up. He loved to follow kids as they would develop from flag football all the way up through winning state championships in high school. He was a campfire dad to his daughter and her friends. He had a large family that grew every time he met someone new. He called everyone bubba or baby girl. He loved his brothers and sisters and was fiercely loyal to them. He was an affectionate provider to his wife. A loving and respected father and grandfather to all of his children and grandchildren, both biological and “adopted”. He was a big strong Marine with a soft spot in his heart for family, friends and a small dog named Romeo. He was a fighter with superhuman strength and will be missed.
Rob was preceded in death by his father Elmer, mother Elzetta, sister Helen, brother Ray and children Justin and Tonya.
He is survived by wife Mary, children Nate, Dillon and Crystal, Grandkids Noah, Aiden, Blair, Carson, Tatum, Cameron and Landon. Brothers and Sister Rick, Ronnie and Ruby. Plus many more friends and family too numerous to mention.
