Robert Edmond Winkle, Sr. age 74 passed away Thursday, August 10, 2006 at his residence in Jenks, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family members.
Mr. Winkle was born June 18, 1932 in Jenks, Oklahoma to Otis William Winkle and Velma Loretta (Quinn) Winkle. He attended Jenks schools and has spent his entire life in the Jenks area.
Mr. Winkle joined the United States Air Force on October 28, 1950. He served in World War II and on November of 1953 he was honorably discharged at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma.
On June 25, 1975 he married Patricia Ann (Hampton) Winkle and they shared thirty-one years together.
Mr. Winkle worked for the Gulf Oil Company which later became Chevron as an oil field contractor before he opened his own business. Robert was the owner/operator of a car dealership located in Sapulpa. In his spare time, Mr. Winkle enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting. Robert was a devoted grandfather who left many great memories with his grandchildren. He was the math tutor and the babysitter.
Mr. Robert Winkle was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Winkle, and children: David Jonathan Winkle, Robert Edmond Winkle, Jr., Cheryle Anne Thompson, Edith Loretta Winkle (Lori); Todd Allen Winkle, Curtis Wayne Winkle, Teressa Lynn McCord and Thomas Keith Winkle. He is also survived by his two brothers: Billy Gene Winkle and Jimmy Don Winkle and his sister: Velma Darlene Roach. Mr. Winkle was the proud grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 14, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church, Jenks, Oklahoma. Reverend Tom Ballard and Reverend Troy Hayes will officiate.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Ryan Winkle, Walker Winkle, Beau Thompson, Spencer Thompson, Trey Winkle, Joshua Winkle, Jeremy Winkle and Lucas Winkle.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in memory of Mr. Winkle to American Cancer Society, 5110 S. Yale, Suite 101, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136 (800-227-2345).
