Ricky Harless

Ricky David Harless Jr. "Ricko", of Peggs, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the age of 52. Ricky was born on October 14, 1971, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Ricky "Wormy" Harless and Donna Harless.

Ricky was a man of diverse passions and a heart full of love. He took immense joy in fishing, assisting his father with various projects, tinkering with boats and jeeps, and smoking meats-his BBQ was legendary, (Ricko's BBQ forever). His enthusiasm for life extended to his involvement in church competitions, playing guitar, and spending quality time with his family and beloved wife, Athena Harless.

Ricky's love for his stepchildren was boundless. While he did not have biological children, he embraced Jessica John of Topeka, Kansas; Zaccary John of Peggs, OK; Corey and Makayla John of Owasso, OK; and "The Babies", his cherished grandchildren, great-nephews and great-niece as his own. He affectionately referred to them as his "Looney tunes," "Lil Dude," "Jim Dandy," "Cuckoo Bird," and "Hot Rod." The joy they brought him was immeasurable, and Ricky was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new grandchild in February.

He is survived by his wife, Athena Harless of Peggs, OK; his stepchildren and their families; his siblings, Tammy Kirk of Adair, OK, and Tony and Deborah Harless of Peggs, OK; and his nieces and nephews, Joseph Kirk of Adair, OK; Shelby and JD McFarland of Locust Grove, OK; Anthony Harless of Peggs, OK; and Kacy Harless of Arizona.

Ricky will be fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles who were touched by his warmth and generosity. His vibrant spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Ricky's life will be 3:00 PM, Friday, September 13, 2024, at Grace and Peace Fellowship, 8198 N 450 Rd, Hulbert, OK 74441.
