Rick Davis, a well-known member of the Tulsa-area Western and Rodeo Community, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2014 in Tulsa. Rick was born in Arlington, Texas, on Dec. 10, 1958 to Horace “Hoss” and Myra (Hanks) Daivs. Rick grew up in Arlington, Texas, and attended Arlington Schools. As a youth, he worked with his father attending Trade Days and Western Shows selling Western Heritage and antiques throughout the country. At the age of 19, he began a career in automobile sales first working with Jim Stevens. For the past year, he was the Promotions Manager for the Tulsa RV Ranch where he again worked with Stevens on developing the event venue located in Beggs, Okla. Rick said that his time in Oklahoma was “the best time of my life.” He was a founding member of the Cowboy Church at the Tulsa RV Ranch where he played guitar, banjo and sang entertaining many groups. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Davis, of Euless, Texas; his brother, Craig Davis, of Dallas, Texas; his surrogate father, Jim Stevens of Beggs, Okla.; and his Tulsa RV Ranch and Cowboy Church family; as well as numerous other friends. He will be missed. A Memorial Service celebrating Rick’s life will be held at the Tulsa RV Ranch Arena on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. Donations made be made to the Cowboy Church at the Tulsa RV Ranch.
