Richard Reaves Allred

Richard Reaves Allred age 75 passed away peacefully Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Richard was born November 2, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma to Robbie and Willis Allred. He attended schools in Oklahoma City until his family moved to Odessa, Texas. Richard graduated from Odessa High School and went on to earn a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.

Richard met his wife, Mary, at O.U. and they married in August of 1961. In November of 1961 he was drafted and spent two years in the Army Engineer Test Unit at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He worked for forty-one years for related companies Sivalls, Inc. and Control Equipment, Inc. He retired from Control Equipment, Inc. in 2003 as executive vice president.

He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, ROTC, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Toastmasters International, Jeans and Queens Square Dance Club and Tulsa Rock and Mineral Society. He was an avid "rockhound" and enjoyed hunting, collecting, cutting and polishing rocks.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Deanna Howard and husband Curt, his grandsons, Tams and Taylor Howard, son Steve and his wife Amy, his brother Lou and wife Jean, his sister Carol Melton and husband Joe, nephews Mark Allred and Chris DeHay and niece Lisa Spencer along with other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Schaudt's Funeral Home in Glenpool.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Reverend Tom Dotson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Sapulpa, 220 E. Lee, Sapulpa, Oklahoma 74066 (918 224-0380).
