Richard Eugene Downs

Richard Eugene Downs, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Robert Eugene Downs and Wanda (McDuff) Downs. He graduated from Tuttle High School in Oklahoma. Rich received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. He also earned additional certifications as CSP and CSSM and was the Director of Safety for Cust-O-Fab Specialty Services of Sand Springs.

Richard served as Chaplain for Boy Scout Troop #185 and he loved to go camping with his children. He also enjoyed bowling and riding his Harley motorcycle. Richard delighted his friends with his ability to remember music and movie trivia. However, his greatest joys were knowing that he was a child of God, helping others and striving to be a great father and husband.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, his daughter, Sarah Joy and his son, Joseph McDuff. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Downs of Denver, Colorado; Linda Elder and husband John of Bellaire, Texas; other family members, friends and acquaintances.

Services celebrating Richard’s life will be held this Friday, August 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 5590 S. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Reverend Hess Hester and Dr. Hiram Sanders will officiate.
