Rayleen "Raye" Mclendon

November 8, 1947 — June 20, 2021

On Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 6:20 p.m., Rayleen "Raye" Snodgrass McLendon went to her Heavenly home to celebrate with her Lord Jesus Christ. The Jesus she loved more than anything else. It was surely a party upon her arrival, because Raye was always the life of the party.

Raye was born on November 8, 1947 to William H. Dubose and Clarice Dubose with so much energy and zeal for life. Her hometown of New Iberia Louisiana would never be the same!

Growing up, Raye was active in church and tennis, church and softball...Church! She was an inaugural member of New Iberia Louisiana's first women's softball league, she was a Masseuse, Truck Driver, Teacher, Homemaker, and was involved in activities too numerous to mention. Raye was always active and her outlook on life was always positive, as demonstrated by one of her favorite sayings, "I can choose my attitude, and I choose to feel GREAT!"

She was proud of her Cajun heritage, and celebrated it abundantly. Anyone who knew her remembers the frequent leaps from English to Cajun French with common sayings or witticisms like, "Ca c,est bon" (that's good), "Ca va" (how you are? or how are you?), for those not fluent in Cajun English. Her children and grandchildren fondly remember hearing "cher cher baby" (dear, dear baby). They all know how dear they were to her.

Raye was not one to let grass grow under her feet; she married Dalton McLendon on September 21, 1967 after knowing him for only 2 weeks. Together they had three wonderful daughters that she raised to be strong, and support their family. Most importantly, Raye taught them, by example, to follow God. So much so, that in 1985 she was moved by the Spirit and without a job, job prospects or a place to live, Raye fearlessly moved her family to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Raye was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dalton. She leaves behind Daughters: Marion "Dinky" Vicknair (Michael), Marla Logan, and Marci Jefferson; grandsons: Dillon Jefferson, William Logan, Mason Vicknair, Dawson Jefferson, Deacon Jefferson, "Wee Wittle" Gunner Yarber; granddaughters Jennifer Logan McCoy (Tyler), Dakota "Coco" Jefferson, Makala Wellborn (Barrett) ; One great-grandson Johnny McCoy; A large, and much loved extended family. Her dear friend Willena "Willie" Baker, and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

A Celebration worthy of Raye is scheduled for Saturday, June 26th @1pm at A Glorious Church 915 North 19th Street Collinsville Oklahoma 74021. All are welcome to come together and remember Raye, as she would say, "Laissez les bons temps rouler" or "Let the good times roll" and "c'est ce toot fini" ........."that is all."
