Randall Ashton "Randy" Doss, 64, died peacefully March 26th, 2016 at home after a battle with lung cancer. He was born October 11th, 1951, in Tulsa to Jack and Lucile (Ashton) Doss. He grew up in Tulsa, Durango, CO, and Los Angeles. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, when he married Kathleen (Kemm) Doss on June 16, 1973. They traveled across Europe during that year. After returning to the US they had two sons, Eric and Adam, and made their home in Tulsa.
Randy had a natural aptitude for working with his hands, and his Associate’s degree in Electronics from Okmulgee Tech only enhanced this quality. In fact, Randy was an electronics genius! He built equipment for Dowell, repaired computers for Computer Mart and Doss Computer Service, installed and repaired sound systems for Ace Sound, fixed clocks for Tulsa Time, and was a videographer for Consumer Logic. He was the person that all his friends and family called to fix anything and was always ready to drop everything and help.
Randy loved his wife Kathy and they traveled together across the United States and Europe for 43 years. He enjoyed working in his garage on projects from metal art to robotics and was always building something. He also enjoyed getting together with his vast network of friends for a hoppy IPA or Gin & Tonic, and talking politics or sixties rock and roll.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Lucile McNutt and John; father Jack Doss and Elizabeth of Schertz, TX; and in-laws Jim and Betty Ann Kemm. He is survived by wife Kathy, Eric and Rachel Doss and children Brady and Harper, and Adam and Heidi Doss, their children Thor, Torren, and Aven. He is also survived by: sister Jackie Wofford and Sam; brother Jeff Doss and Lorelei; sister-in-law Nancy Pomerantz of Dunedin, FL; sister-in-law Martha Landes and Dan of Rio Rancho, NM; and 11 nieces and nephews across the country who see him as a father figure.
Randy loved a party, and his memorial celebration will be held at Memorial Community Center at 8310 E 15th St. on Sunday, April 3rd from 3-5 pm. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite place, the Harner Cabin on Big Sugar Creek in Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Randy’s name.
