Phyllis Bringham White

November 17, 1928 — July 13, 2015

Phyllis Rae Bringham White, 86, passed away on July 13, 2015. She was born on Nov 17, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She grew up in Tulsa, with her father, Leycester Bringham, who worked for Meadow Gold for a number of years, her mother, Georgia Irene Bringham, an accomplished seamstress and cook, and her big sister, Mary Nell, all of whom preceded her in death. She loved spending time with her extended family in Geary and Greenfield, Oklahoma where she survived dust storms and told stories of the busy wheat harvests on the family farm.

Phyllis graduated from Central High School in 1946 and also attended Oklahoma A&M. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and a varsity cheerleader. She was one of the favorite cheerleaders for the newspapers and programs, with her petite figure and great smile.

She married Tom White, Jr and they made their home in Tulsa where they raised four children. Her hobbies through the years included sewing, needle point, quilting, reading and working in the garden. Later in her life, she became a successful realtor in Tulsa. She also worked well into her retirement years as a devoted bookkeeper for several individuals in Tulsa. She lived in Tulsa her entire life and even wrote a book about her adventures as a child.

Phyllis is survived by her four children, Tom White and his wife Sandie, Claudia Kovar and her husband Joe, Becky Skidmore and her husband Harold and Chris White and his wife Cindy. She is also survived by eight grandchildren David White, Kara Hartman, Jennifer Kovar, Joey Kovar, Jason Durrett, Michelle Whitlow, Allison Guthridge and Phillip White. She has eight great grandchildren, Ella, Devon, Leah, Chase, Kaylee, Lucia, Chloe and Blaine.

She will be remembered for her spirited conversations over a cup of coffee, her beautiful flowers, yummy chex mix every Christmas, being a whiz at crossword and jigsaw puzzles and her sincere love and concern for her family.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday in the Chapel at Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service, 5757 South Memorial in Tulsa. Phyllis appreciated the help of the COPD Foundation to deal with her disease, if you would like to donate in her memory.
