Philip "Phil" Willson went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 20, 2015 at the age of 89 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Phil was born on July 21, 1926 in Leal, North Dakota. He graduated from Valley City H.S. and Valley City Teachers College with a B.S. in Chemistry and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education. Phil served in the U.S. Navy for two years near the end of WW2. He enjoyed a long career as a high school math teacher at schools in North Dakota, Montana and primarily Northern California.
Phil met and married the love of his life, Lillian Nelson, in 1949 and started his high school teaching career the same year. The Willson family quickly grew with the addition of two sons and a daughter. Phil wore many hats: baseball coach, Boy Scout scoutmaster, Sunday school teacher, church leader and the final 30 years as the primary caregiver for Lillian. He loved to bowl, golf and was happiest when spending time with his family.
Phil is survived by his son, Keith and his wife, Sheila; son, Kevin and wife Sheri; daughter, Keri and her husband Ray; grandchildren, Keith Jr., Julia, Forrest, Alexander, Britney, Audrey, Philip, Alycia, and Janelle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lillian E. Wilson.
Phil will be honored at a private family burial ceremony followed by a Memorial Service in Concord, CA. The family suggest friends who wish to pay tribute to Phil make a donation to their church or favorite charity.
