Philip Eugene Gready, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 69. Born on January 29, 1954, in Houston, Texas. He was adopted by Dr. Donald M. Gready and Jean (Green) Gready, Philip's journey was one marked by service, dedication, and a genuine love for those around him.
Philip's early years were defined by his commitment to our nation. He served with honor in the United States Army in his early 20's, demonstrating a sense of duty that would echo throughout his life.
Following his military service, Philip found purpose and fulfillment in his work as a Mechanic and in maintenance at Bethesda Boys Ranch for many years. Arriving at the ranch at the age of 13 after relocating from Houston, Texas, he attended Mounds High School and embarked on a journey that would shape not only his career but his heart. At Bethesda, he discovered a passion for working with his hands and a deep-seated commitment to investing in the lives of young men, mirroring the care and guidance he had received from others during his formative years. He loved his BBR family and those who helped him through his teenage years to become a fine young man, He was taught that God loved him and this is where he found his savior Jesus Christ.
Philip's life was characterized by a selfless spirit and an enduring love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Those fortunate enough to have known Philip will forever hold him in their hearts. He is survived by his wife Bev of Owasso, OK and children, Curtis of Owasso OK and Kimberly (Sunshine) of Chico, California, and his beloved grandchildren, Elijah (Eli), Kaylee (Kaybug), Malachi (Chi), and Salelah (Zizi), Philip's sisters Cookie, Donna, Maureen, Jeanie, Ellen, Pat, Amy and his brother Michael, many other family members and extended family members and friends over the years, His family and friends remember him for his warm smile, unwavering support, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. Philip did not meet a stranger, he would greet people with a smile and say "how are you today?"
Philip's passion extended beyond his work and family, he loved history and was often found reading about our country's history, he also loved going to museums, he found joy in anything with an engine including cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. Whether tinkering with machines or enjoying the thrill of the open road, he embraced the freedom and creativity that came with his favorite pastime. He had the opportunity to ride in the B17 from WWII and loved every minute of it, buying the t shirt, hat, bomber jacket. He loved taking short road trips with Bev, and he loved taking care of her as well by taking care of the house while she worked, also putting gas in her vehicle, taking it for a wash and whatever needed to be done to make her life easier, he also liked spoiling their kitty Henry, he also took care of his "grand" dog max, going over each day to check on him and giving him treats.
