Peggy Nichols Pinkston Chancey entered Heaven’s glory on December 2, 2020 after blessing many lives for 88 years.On September 1, 1932, Peggy was born in Okmulgee, the firstborn child of Otto and Helen (Hendrix) Nichols, of Natura. She attended Natura School for eight years and then graduated from Preston High School. Peggy graduated from Northeastern in Tahlequah and began her teaching career at Natura, where, for four years she taught 5th,6th,7th, and 8th grades all in one room, while serving as Principal and the boys and girls basketball coach. She then began teaching 6th grade and coaching grade school basketball at Preston, and later became high school girls’ basketball coach, leading Preston Pirate girls to the state tournament. Peggy retired from Preston after having taught and coached for 33 years then taught music at Twin Hills School for several years.Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Pinkston and their family became complete with the birth of their sons, Larry and Wesley. After Darrell’s death Peggy later married Don Chancey.Peggy loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She played piano by ear and could play anything she heard. She played the piano at the Preston First Baptist Church and later, when she and Don moved to Natura. Peggy played the organ at Natura Baptist Church.Peggy loved watching her kids and grandkids participate in sports ands showing animals. She enjoyed fishing and filling the freezer with crappie.Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her siblings, V.J, Nichols, Judy Forrest, and Jane Brown. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Larry Pinkston and wife Cathy of Natura, Wes Pinkston and wife Susan of Boynton, grandsons Ben Pinkston, Zac Pinkston, Larame Pinkston, step granddaughters Terri Davis, Sherri Clay, and Kerri Thierry; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Due to Covid 19 concerns, a private service for the family will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 with Pastor Scott McCullah officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Natura Baptist Church Facebook Page. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 5:00 -7:00.**The funeral service will be a priavte family sevice but friends are welcome to view the service online through Narura Baptist Church and Schaudt Funeral Service Facebook page**Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt’s Funeral Service of Okmulgee.
