Paul Charles Gilpin

October 8, 1955 — October 22, 2015

Paul was a professional Tractor - trailer driver. Beginning at the age of 20, when he purchased his first Truck (1967), it was a Cab over Kenworth. He spent over 30 Years driving coast to coast, chalking up just over 4 million miles.

Paul’s great love of being an avid Harley Rider took him to Sturgis 3 times, Dayton’s Bike week several times, and numerous other bike rallies over the years. Paul was an ace mechanic, he
had done things to motors that the factory said could not be done. That is Fact! As sick as Paul was these last few years, numerous people would call him asking, how to fix anything from Big Trucks to motorcycles. Paul first became sick 5 years ago with his brain tumor, which before his operation told his brother Mike, “ I just want to take one more ride with you.” Right after that operation, that ride was done with his brother Mike and sister Patti, to the Smoky Mountains with a stop at one of the best bikers bar, Bobarosa in Del Rio, Tn. Within the year after that, Paul suffered his first stoke which left him unable to ever ride again, until 4 weeks before his death, Mike took him to a church parking lot, and with sitting behind him, let him ride that one last time.

It is with his sister, Patti’s loving care these last few years that allowed Paul to enjoy the remaining years of his life.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul H. Gilpin (1974); mother, Nancy Langenbahn (2006) and sister, Carolanne Miller )2007).

He is survived by his sister, Paulete Eberle of New Jersey; brother, Bill Braastead of California; brother, Mike Gilpin and his wife, Lisa of Tulsa; sister, Pattie Gilpin Birge of Tulsa; brother, Billy Rowland of Alabama; two sons: Brad and Ryan Gilpin of Illinois; three grandchildren; six nieces; four nephews; five great nieces; three great nephews; one great great niece; and caretaker, Sony Beal McCrackin.
