Pamela Sue Checotah, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the age of 33. She was born October 2, 1978 to Everett and Etta Marie (Starr) Checotah in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She served in the Oklahoma National Guard and was a member of the Belvin Baptist Church in Okmulgee. She was planning on graduating from OSU-Okmulgee in December 2011, majoring in Finance. She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Checotah; sister, Carolyn Sue Checotah; grandparents, Amos and Elizabeth Starr and grandparents, Verna Grayson and Roman Checotah. Survivors include her three children, Andrew Benson, Talya Benson and Braden Berryhill; mother, Etta Marie Checotah; three sisters, Angela Checotah, Lisa Arnold and Tammy Checotah; brother, Daniel Checotah and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Wake Services will be held on Thursday, October 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28th at the Belvin Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Randy Colbert, Reverend David Dunson and Reverend Alfred Berryhill officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Kyle Clark, Clayton Clark, Jerry Wittman, Richard Fixico, Eric Checotah, Evan Checotah, Nathan Checotah and Brian Arnold. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Holata, Hunter Arnold, Andrew Benson, Braden Berryhill and Daniel Checotah. Military Honors will be conducted by the Creek Nation Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
