October 4, 1945 - June 26, 2024
Pam Howard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother aunt and friend, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 78 years old.
Pam was born in Fort Worth, TX on October 4, 1945, to Bill and Betty Elliott. She attended public schools in North Texas graduating from North Richland Hills High School in 1964. After high school, she attended Arlington State College (now UTA). Pam then moved to Oklahoma, first settling in Lawton where her daughter, Angie was born. After a short stay there, Pam moved to Tulsa. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dick Howard. After a short courtship, they were married on January 21, 1981. They settled on a small plot of land in Creek County that became their little oasis.
To say that Pam was a special person is an understatement. Pam had a passion for reading. She typically had 3 or 4 books that she was reading at the same time. Her favorite readings typically were current events. She could discuss politics and world events for hours. She could tell you everything about all 9 Supreme Court Justices and name the starting lineup for both the OU and OSU softball teams.
Pam was truly a Renaissance woman. She could build a bookshelf and balance a checkbook. She could drive a tractor and bake the best banana cake. She could string a barbed wire fence
and make quilts.
Pam was a terrific gardener. Her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers and plants. She was happiest with her hands caked with dirt from planting in her flower beds.
Pam loved people. She was interested in what interested others. Fishing with her husband Dick. Shopping with her daughter Angie. Watching college softball with her son-in-law Scott. Learning about the latest technological gadget with her grandson Austin. Or playing Magic the Gathering with her grandson Parker. Pam got her greatest joy out of seeing other people happy.
Pam was kind to everyone, to the point of being gullible. She was often the victim of prank phone calls from her son-in-law over the years. She gave without asking for anything in return. She loved unconditionally.
Pam was a great source of advice for her family and friends. She had a gentle and forgiving nature that was contagious to be around. It was rare to ever hear Pam speak ill of anyone and even more rare for her to hold a grudge.
Pam was preceded in death by her husband Dick. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Angie and Scott. Her grandson and spouse, Austin and Holly. Her grandson and spouse Parker and Riley. Her stepmother Barbara. Her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Liz. Her sister-in-law Sammye. Her nephews Gary and Billy. Although her family misses her, they are comforted to know that she is reunited with her husband Dick and they are out on the lake somewhere catching fish together.
