Otis Merrel Williams Sr. passed away Monday evening, December 29, 2014 in Tulsa. He was born January 24, 1935 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Kye Sr. and Mary Magdalene Williams. Otis grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Kindley High School. Otis M. Williams married Jerry Dean Streat on January 19, 1957. Into this union six children were born. He worked as a brick mason and had a job at the flower mill. Most of his working life was spent at the foundry in Coffeyville working for Sherwin Williams.
Otis was a feisty soul. He loved children....especially his grandchildren for whom he always had a pocket full of Jolly Ranchers. Otis loved fishing. His dogs were always very special to him. He always had a blue healer. Otis also loved blues and jazz music. He sang in a quartet for many years. In his later years, Otis was content with his easy chair, sports, Kit-Cats, whiskey and smokes. He will be missed by many family and friends that cared for him deeply.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jerry Dean Williams; his son Craig Stephen Williams; and his granddaughter Courtney Q. Vanatta-Williams. He is survived by his children Otis Merrel Williams Jr., Kevin Dion Williams, Sheryl Wilson, Evelyn Williams, and Stephanie Jones; and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
