Orman Earl Landers was born the oldest of three children on January 7 1938 to Orman Edison Landers and Erville Ethel Landers in Johnstown, Colorado. He passed away Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015 at his home in Tulsa.
Orman met the love of his life in the Spring of his senior year of Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and began his 59 year adventure with Queen Ruby where they were married in a small ceremony at Ruby's parents' home on the day before her 18th birthday on December 1,1956.
Orman was a man of faith that passionately lived out Jesus' command to love your neighbor as yourself. Orman's early years of marriage included frequent moves with each of his four loving children born in a different state. Even during this busy time in his life, Orman always found a way to look out for others as evidenced by bringing his mother-in-law to live with the family for the last eight years of her life. Orman returned with the family to Tulsa in 1976 where they moved into their current house. Even in the busiest times, Orman always found time to serve others with countless hours spent volunteering with Meals on Wheels, serving as a volunteer naturalist leading school age children on nature walks at Oxley Nature Center, and most recently serving as curator of the greenhouse for Linnaeus Teaching Gardens.
In addition to serving others, Orman loved his family and always made a point of entertaining his grand children and great granddaughter. Orman always kept a smile on his face and had an encouraging word for all. Orman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2015.
Orman was preceded in death by his father, Orman; step mother, Lorena; mother, Erville; sister, Marjory; and grandson, Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; his sister, Hildra; his son, Keith and wife, Susan; his daughter, Joy and husband, John; his son, Roger and wife, Stella; his son, Patrick and wife, Betsy; his grandchildren: Brian, Dustin, Brooke, Joshua, Jeremy, Sydney, Samantha, Hayden, Sarah, Zachary, Allison, and great-granddaughter, Olivia.
