A celebration of life honoring and remembering the life of Olen Lavern Aemisegger will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Olen passed away at his residence at Green Tree Memory Unit in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on November 28, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 86.
Born August 23, 1931 in Elk City, Kansas, Olen was the son of Fred and Roberta. After completing high school in Elk City, he served as an airplane mechanic for the Air Force. After serving his time in the military, he eventually set up his oil and gasoline distribution business, A&A Oil Company, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where he remained for over 40 years until retirement.
Olen married Sue D. Annis of Spokane, WA in February, 1955 and divorced in 1986. He then married Jean Maurine (Alloway) Bennett in July, 1987 (at the Oaks Country Club).
People who knew Olen knew him as a loving, kind, and generous man, except on the golf course. An avid golfer, he was known for his putting ability with his old wooden putter. His children also have fond memories of his poor attempts to serenade them when there were clouds in the West and it looked like rain. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Olen is preceded in death by his second wife Jean Maurine, his stepchildren Michael Bennett and Kerry Philpot, and his brothers Darvin, Noel (Shorty), and Arlan. He is survived by his sisters Barbara Whistler of Murietta, CA, and Treva Horst of Topeka, KS; by his children David Aemisegger of Sapulpa, OK, Eric Aemisegger (and his fiance Julie Justema) of Dallas, TX, and LTC Kyle Aemisegger, MD (and his wife Brandi) of Fairbanks, AK; and by his five grandchildren (Kali, 24, Stone, 20, Ashley, 18, Jackson, 15, Hannah, 12) and four step-grandchildren (Carlee Philpot, Jody Philpot, Scotty Bennett, and Cole Bennett).
Olen’s family would like to express extreme gratitude to Lanita Castillo and all of the staff at Green Tree Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility, their care and compassionate treatment given to Olen over the past year and a half was above and beyond their normal duties. They were a blessing for us all giving such wonderful care.
