Naomi Nadine Ayers

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Naomi Ayers will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 16, at Schaudt’s Funeral Service Chapel with burial next to loving husband Bill at the Okmulgee Cemetery following the service.

Naomi Ayers, 92, a long-time resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, died peacefully in her sleep on August 10, 2019, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Born September 19, 1926, in Wakarusa, Kansas, to Louis Spore Jacobus and Minne May Day, she lost her mother at the age of four and was raised by her sister and husband, Dorothy and Roy Palmer, on a farm South of Topeka, Kansas.

She owned Town & Country Real Estate for 20 years and raised four children. Upon retiring as a real estate broker, she went to Cosmetology School at the young age of 55 and operated her own hair salon until meeting her late husband, Bill Ayers of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, who predeceased her in 2012. She taught herself to play the piano, guitar, recorder, and dulcimer while entertaining with a group at the Little House on the Prairie. Bill and Naomi enjoyed trips to Texas in their RV for several years and enjoyed wood working, arts and crafts.

She is survived by four children, DeWayne Talley of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Fiancée Patricia Scott, Diane Murphy of Owasso, Oklahoma, Robert (Bob) Talley of Ft. Myers, Florida and his wife Basia, and Harvey Talley, of Milton, Florida. Affectionately called Grammy, Naomi cherished her grandchildren, Kirstin Coverdale of Estero, Florida, and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Alex, Tallie Craigo, of Midland, Texas, husband Carl and grandchildren Cooper and Izzy, and grandson, Ben Murphy, of Alexander, Virginia. and his wife Melanie. Her extended family included Patricia’s son Lancer Scott and wife, TinaRae, of Council Grove, Kansas. Their three children RaeLyn, LaiCee and FinnLee, who loving called her Gram Cracker and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and guitar with her.
