Monica Louise Chancey-Hilley

Monica passed away on March 26 , 2023, at the age of 64. She was born on September 5, 1958, to Raymond and Barbara Chancey.

Monica was a free-spirit and fiesty character who learned how to rise above circumstances. She had the best laugh, big heart and loved her family and friends. She always had time to listen and prayed for people. Monica would set you straight one minute and the next hugging you and all we could say is, "That's momma!"

Monica grew up in Tulsa, OK and at the age of 14 her parents moved their family to Los Angeles, CA. She was a Christian and grew up in the Methodist Church. In 1973, Monica met and fell in love with James Edward Hilley Sr. They married in 1976 and were inseparable. Monica and James had two beautiful children James Edward Hilley Jr. and Tammi Elaine Hilley. Monica and James Sr. raised James Jr. and Tammi in Compton, CA and South Central Los Angeles until her husband, James, passed away in 1986. Monica moved with her children to Memphis, TN and eventually to her birthplace Tulsa, OK, to be near her parents and sisters. After raising her children, Monica continued to work as a customer service representative until retiring in 2011. Monica spent her retired years

enjoying her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of her family.

Monica is survived by her son James Hilley Jr., daughter Tammi Hilley-Williams (Marquise), her sister Deborah Chancey Mason, grandchildren Daavon, Miracle, Teala, Marquise Jr, Keteria, Kyron, great-grandchildren Kimorah, Naviyah, Haniel, Olivia and Kobe and a host of aunts and uncles.

A memorial service to honor the life of Monica will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Calvary Tabernacle Church: 5118 W 63rd St, Tulsa, OK 74131.
