Molly Dotson, long time resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma passed away on Dec 10, 2021 at home in Henryetta surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Molly was born May 17, 1938 to George and Wilma (Spears) Simpson in Yale Oklahoma. She attended school at Quay for most of her schooling.
Molly and Sherman met playing basketball for Milfay Schools. That day Molly hit her head while playing. Sherman was so concerned for her that he held her head in his lap while she rested the whole bus ride home. From then on the two were nearly inseparable. Sherman would even pay Molly's youngest sister Kay a quarter a day to report if Molly had spent any time with other boys.
Molly and Sherman were married Oct 27 in 1956 in Bristow, Oklahoma and moved to Stroud to raise a family.
As a young wife Molly worked in the clothing factory in Bristow, Oklahoma. She quickly became a skilled seamstress and could reproduce any of the high fashions seen in the best stores in New York. As her children grew it was not uncommon for Molly to fashion three piece suits for the boys and dresses for her and Cheryl.
While the children were young Sherman and Molly relocated to Okmulgee where she took a job working as a Secretary at Banneker Kindergarten. She retired from Okmulgee Public Schools as the secretary of Okmulgee Primary School in 2009.
Molly and Sherman loved spending time with their large families. They purchased a "Mobile Traveler' That at one point lost the M and T and became the "Obile Ravler". Camping with family at the lake or in Branson was a favorite pastime.
Molly had a quiet calm about her even in the center of chaos. This served her well both as a School Secretary and in a family where the chaos is rarely organized. What most didn't catch is that she was always observing. Her eyes could speak volumes and often words were unnecessary. She loved to laugh and would surprise you with occasional sharp jokes that always caught you off guard.
Preceded in Death by Her Parents George and Wilma Simpson, Husband Sherman, Children Kim, Darrell and Cheryl as well as siblings Wynonna, Werdna, Hobart, Maxine, Elmer Ray.
She is survived by her son Darren Dotson and wife Mary and sisters Marjorie Kelley and Kay Simpson Smith and brother Keith Simpson and wife Joyce. Grandchildren Laurie Dotson Biby and partner David Williams, Grandson Brandon Rogers and wife Alexis, Grandson Matthew Foster Dotson, Tabatha Evans and husband Kevin, Becky Goodnight and Rocky Baker, Griffin Goodnight and wife Bonita. As well as 10 great grandchildren, Terry Thompson and wife Kaylee, Joshua Baker, Christian and Chloe Richardson, Samantha Woodman and husband Joshua, Christina Huckabay and husband Nathan, Jonathan Evans and wife Elle, Leslie Goodnight and partner Chris Tucker, Katherine Ann Marie Goodnight, Harli Goodnight, and four great great grandchildren Theo and Remi Huckabay, Faith Marie Woodman, Ainsley Tucker and host of nieces and nephews. Along with a multitude of friends who were like family.
Molly loved spending time with Sherman more than anything. She was regularly found in the cab of his rig both on long hauls and for Christmas Parades. If there was a task to tackle she and Sherman both would roll up their sleeves and get to work.
