Mildred Lucas

Mildred Lucille Lucas, a resident of Okmulgee, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the age of 94. She was born April 26, 1917 to Squirrel and Delia (Owens) Croslin in Gans, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Honeycreek United Methodist Church in Okmulgee and she enjoyed attending the Senior Methodist Group. Mildred loved to play wahoo, dominoes, bingo and many other games. She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Squirrel and Delia Croslin; step-mother, Hallie Croslin; three sons, Richard Lucas, Homer Eugene Lucas and Bennie Lucas, Jr.; two brothers, George and John E Croslin; four sisters, Mary Jane Colvin, Elizabeth Cook, Hazel Booker and Juanita Sokolosky and six grandchildren, Regina Beth Croslin, Johnny, Vickie and Rocky Gordon, Matthew Schanks and Joseph Henderson Survivors include her three sons, Leon Croslin of Nuyaka; Jim Story of Nuyaka and David Lucas of Glenpool; three daughters, Dellia “Boots” Gordon of Okmulgee, Janet Lucas of Glenpool and Joyce Henderson and husband, Fred of Nuyaka; one sister, Geniva Orrison of Vian; five brothers, Squirrel Croslin, Jr. and wife, Loretta of Vian; Ward Croslin and wife, Reba of Chickasha; Hubert Croslin and wife, Francis of Mesquite, TX, Calvin Croslin and wife, Sonma of Owasso and Bobby Croslin and wife, Sue of Owasso; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Reverend Newman Franks, Reverend Dave Long Jr.and Reverend Jerry Baker officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Morris Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Fred Henderson, Jim Story, Leon Croslin, Ryan Sharp, Floyd Ryder and Michael Croslin. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
