Dr. Mike Hight was a very accomplished man. All of his education was done through scholarships. He attained his BBA from the University of Montevallo , Montevallo, AL in 1981, and his masters degree from Samford University, Brock School of Business in Birmingham, AL in 1984. His PhD work was done through courses in Waltham, MA. Shortly thereafter he moved to Atlanta, Ga. He taught risk management and many insurance and property and casualty courses through the Terry College of Business, University of Georgia Lawrenceville campus. His teaching career lasted over 20 years.
He began his insurance career by working with Arkwright- Boston which is headquartered in Waltham, Ma. He worked in the Atlanta region as a commercial underwriter. then moved on to Senior Underwriter with FM Global where he was able to take full advantage of his Business Management Degree. He worked with Mass Mutual Insurance Company for many years in the Atlanta, Ga. region. After 1991, Mike went into the teaching field of insurance. He taught at several universities as an adjunct professor but put in 8 to 9 years as a full professor at the University of Georgia. There he assisted in the development of new RMI courses taught at the College of Business. He slowed down after he became disabled but was always a supporter of Veterans groups like the Coffee Bunker here in Tulsa, OK.
Mike married Norma "Lynn" Hall in December, 2000. Together they took their own knowledge and formed their company The Hight Agency, or HACO. Mike was a genuine star in this world with many loving friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
