Michael Tyler

Michael Ray Tyler, 82, passed away on June 25, 2024, at St. Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was married to Helen Ruth Tyler for 61 wonderful years, she preceded him in death on June 3, 2023.

Born on July 16, 1941, and adopted by Ray and Virginia Tyler, Michael attended Southwest Bible College, where he studied Religion. Michael remained a lifelong student and his impressive personal library stands as a monument to his dedication and serious study. He and his wife were loved and active members of every church they attended. In the last few years Michael especially cherished Sunday dinners with his family while watching church on Zoom. Michael enjoyed cooking and doing housework with his grandson and had a lifelong love of baseball, having been a pitcher in his playing days. Michael and Jude shared a close bond and enjoyed any activity they did together, whether it was gardening, getting fast food, or going to the movies.

Michael worked as an insurance broker, serving major companies before retiring in his late 60s. He was a devoted member of Reformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his faith was the cornerstone of his life. Michael studied the Bible diligently, learning to read Greek and Hebrew. After retiring, he mentored young men and couples, particularly when Helen was still alive. Staying in his own home was important to him, as it became a gathering place for friends and students to visit and converse with him. His and Helen's home stands as a monument to their love for art, particularly native American art. His family and friends will treasure the last year they had with him. His family takes great comfort knowing he and Helen have been reunited after a year apart and a lifetime together.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Virginia Tyler, his adopted siblings, and his beloved wife, Helen Tyler.

He is survived by his son, Marc Tyler, and daughter-in-law, Colleen Tyler; granddaughter, Sean Tyler, and her husband, Niles Foster; and grandson, Jude Tyler.
