Michael Newman Gilcrease, long-time Broken Arrow resident, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the age of 63 years.
Michael was born on November 17, 1957 in El Paso, TX to his parents, William and Jean (Lackey) Gilcrease. He was a member of the graduating class of 1976 from Will Rogers High School. He went to college at OSU that fall and the following year, he met Deborah McReynolds. However, it took until 1982 for them to realize they were destined to be together. They were married on May 18, 1986 in Tahlequah, OK.
Mike worked for Telex, Helicomb International, Murphy, and most recently for O K Machine & Manufacturing as their Quality Manager.
Mike was a lover of music, played guitar, and was a very talented woodworker. He loved to laugh and joke with friends and family. A huge Monty Python fan that hated to have his picture taken. He was an animal magnet and especially a dog lover. A man that had lots friends- many of them lifelong friends. He never met a stranger, once you were a friend you were a friend for life. Mike would do anything for you if needed. He was a nature lover, enjoyed going on hikes, campouts, and just being outdoors. Mike had an analytical mind and loved to read math books. He was always looking to increase his wealth of knowledge by reading biographies & American History books. He always looked forward to and loved throwing his yearly Christmas party for family & friends which had come to include everyones children and grandchildren for 30 years.
He is preceded in death by father, William Gilcrease; mother, Jean Gilcrease; sister, Dottie Gilcrease; brother, Danny Gilcrease; brother, Clark Lackey; sister, Carol Taylor.
Michael leaves many loving memories with his family, wife Debbie McReynolds-Gilcrease; son William Gilcrease; daughter Sarah Gilcrease; mother-in-law Bobbie McReynolds; brother Bill Gilcrease; sister Kay MacDonald; brother Joe Gilcrease; his fur baby, Gracie, a Great Pyrenees Mike rescued and Garth, a pit mix who was also a rescue; along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.
The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
