Michael Lee O'Brien

October 17, 1945 — October 27, 2017

Our beloved “Mikey” answered The Lord’s call to Heaven on October 27, 2017 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family and a legion of angels.

Mike was born on October 17, 1945 in Houston, Texas to proud parents Jack and Marguerite O’Brien. He grew up in Bellaire, Texas, graduating from St. Thomas High School, and he went on to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University. He served a distinguished career in Engineering, travelling through the world with stops at Seoul, Korea and Singapore while designing multi-million dollar pump systems for numerous refineries. His stories of his world travels could keep you entertained for hours on end, and his uncanny ability to tell a joke would make you laugh till your stomach hurt.

After retiring from Engineering, he moved to Jenks, Oklahoma where he and the love of his life, wife Glenda, got into the Golf Course and Land Fill business.

Mike loved and lived life to the fullest. He loved God and family as much as humanly possible. He shared his love of The Lord while doing Missionary work in Honduras. He enjoyed golf immensely, especially at The Oaks Country Club. He also enjoyed the Casinos and fishing, but, most of all he enjoyed time with family.

Mike is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother “Nina”, and his loving parents, Jack and Marguerite O’Brien. He is survived by His loving wife of 31 years, Glenda, his much loved son Joey, and his beloved granddaughter Katelynn, along with his great nephew Easton Rosencutter and stepson Jason Bashforth. He is further survived by his Brother Jerry O’Brien and his wife Cyndi, Brother Tommy O’Brien and his wife Karen, all of Houston, and nephews Jack, Tommy Jr., Taylor, and Tyler O’Brien, and niece Tiffany Hewitt and numerous great nieces and nephews.
