Michael ("Mike") Wayne Hart, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, Grumpa, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Mike valiantly battled multiple myeloma and the family is appreciative of the care he received from Dr. Caleb Scheckel, Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, the St. John's oncology nurses, and Seasons Hospice.
Mike was born on November 30, 1953, in Worland, Wyoming to Wayne and Eleanor Hart. After stints in Denver and a few other places, Mike spent a majority of his formative years in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he developed many life-long friendships. Mike graduated from Sooner High School in Bartlesville in 1972. He attended and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1977. Mike earned a second bachelor's degree from Langston University in 1985.
On May 17, 1980, Mike married Kathy Hanna and together they raised their son, Joe. The family has called Tulsa home since 1982. Mike worked as an accountant and retired from Cimarex Energy Company in 2013. Mike was a dedicated employee who was often the first person in the office - funnily a work colleague once told Joe that it was his goal to beat Mike to work. When Mike retired our family was not sure how he would do, but, thankfully, he adjusted just fine and spent a lot of time playing golf and enjoying time at Grand Lake (aka his happy place). Occasionally, he'd agree to tackle an item or 2 on Kathy's honey-do list. Above all, Mike loved being Grumpa to his grandsons and he cherished the time he spent with them.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, his loving son and daughter-in law (Yvette Hart), and his adored grandsons Zander and Braxton, plus honorary grandson Logan Tibbett. He also leaves behind his sisters Debra (Dick Hutchins) and Janice (Rob Schulze) of St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as a host of nephews and nieces and dear friends.
Mike is best remembered for his tremendous love for his family, his devotion to his friends, his incredible work ethic, and for his wit and humor. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will live on in those who love him.
