Michael Eugene Battle, 73, of Bixby, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born on October 16, 1951, in Seminole, OK, to Robert and Evelyn (Brown) Battle. The family later moved to Tulsa, where Michael graduated from East Central High School in 1969.
As a young boy, Michael had a passion for baseball and played in the Mounds Little League, where he was proud to have his dad as one of his coaches. He and his sisters also shared a love for dancing, frequently attending the American Auxiliary, Mohawk Unit #308, during their teen years. In 1968, Michael took home first place in a Teen Dance contest, a memory that he cherished for the rest of his life.
Michael met the love of his life, Nancy Jordan, at Skateland in Tulsa. After a brief courtship, they were married in 1970 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He had a passion for the outdoors and was known for his love of roller hockey, softball, and fishing. He spent countless hours tending to his yard and flower beds, always with a green thumb and an eye for detail. A welder by trade, Michael worked in the manufacturing industry, known for his hard work and dedication. Even after retirement, he continued to stay active, working as a valet at St. Francis Hospital, where his friendly nature shined through.
Michael was a man who would give the shirt off his back to help others. He was admired for his sense of humor, quick wit, and easygoing nature, though he wasn't one to speak out-unless you made him mad! A lifelong OU Sooners fan, Michael never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.
His four-legged companions, Bugsy and Copper, were never far from his side, bringing him constant joy.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Battle, and his sister, Jeannie Battle Stopp.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Eugene Battle Jr. and Robert Aron Battle; his grandsons, Dylan McKay Battle and Ryan Aron Battle; and his siblings, Kathy Harp (and her husband Gary) and James Thomas Battle.
