It is with great sadness, our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many, Michael "Mike" Baker, 62, was called home entirely too soon on November 9, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He fought a brave and courageous battle of medical issues the last few years of his life. Mike made friends everywhere he went, and always treated others with great kindness and respect . Mike was known for his big heart. He genuinely loved and served all people. The thing he held most dear was his family, which included his canine companion, Oscar.
Mike was born on July 17, 1954, in Berkley, Michigan to Jeannette Rose and Gordon Baker. He graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley, Michigan. After graduation, he attended Lake Superior College, on a hockey scholarship, 35 years ago, Mike met the love of his life, Jessie Charles and the two were married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.Mikes love and attention to detail grew when he became self-employed, as a Finish Carpenter. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as an avid Outdoorsman, as he loved to deer hunt and fish. Mike also enjoyed sports such as hockey, softball and golf and was a die-hard Red Wings fan.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette Rose and brother, Steve Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Baker; Three sons, Benjamin Baker of Bixby, Matthew Baker (Wallace) of Michigan, and Stepson Michael Charles of Tulsa;father, Gordon Baker and wife, Victoria “Ronnie” of Utah; Brother Dave andwife Lisa; Sister in law Robin (Steve Baker ) of Berkley Michigan and many Nephews and Nieces; grandchildren, Tristen Charles and Wyatt Lee Baker.
Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pmSaturday, November 12, 2016, at Downtown Church of Christ, 15802 S Memorial Dr. Bixby, OK 74008. His final resting place will be in Coldwater, Michigan, at a date,to be announced by his family.
