Merlin Thayne Thomas

Merlin Thayne Thomas passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Merlin was born September 14, 1935 in Clinton, Missouri to Clyde and Lucile (Setzer) Thomas. He graduated from East High School in Kansas City, MO in 1954.

Merlin was a was a longtime member of Brookside Baptist Church in Tulsa. He was also a member of the Caney Masonic Lodge in Caney, KS, the Royal Order of Jesters, a member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite, and the Akdar Shriner's.

He worked for Charles Wheatley Co. in Caney, KS as a purchasing manager for 20 years. Merlin married Sharon McConnell on April 11, 1986. He retired after 23 years as a Purchasing Manager for UPCO, an oil field manufacturing company. Merlin had a private pilot license. He loved pheasant hunting and playing racquetball.

Merlin was preceded in death by father, Clyde Thomas and son, Bret Geer. He is survived by wife, Sharon; mother, Lucile Thomas; children: Shiela Hallett (Gary), Jenelle Tripp (Phil), , Leslie Edison (Marc), Brian Thomas, Cindy Hill (Gregg), and Eric Geer; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Brookside Baptist Church, 3615 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, Ok 74105.
