Melba D. Cotney, age 65 passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Melba was born August 22, 1946 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Elmer Chronister and Ethel (McBride) Chronister. She grew up in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Latta High School with the Class of 1964. She married the love of her life, James E. Cotney on December 20, 1965 in Dewar, Oklahoma. Melba was a homemaker and received lots of pleasure from taking care of her precious grandchildren. She was a great cook and loved to bake for her family and friends. Melba enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching mystery videos, collecting tons of bears over the years and attending to her three cats - C J, Lucy and Tiger. Melba was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, James Edward Cotney, her daughter, Sheri Jo White and her husband, Russell of Collinsville, her son, James E. Cotney, Jr. and his wife, April of Atlanta, Georgia, her son, Dan Cotney and his wife, Rebecca of Broken Arrow, her mother, Ethel Chronister of Tulsa, her sister, Betty Ann Simpson of New London, North Carolina, her loving seven grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Kaitlin, Lauren, Ryan, Nathan and Bailee along with other family members and friends. Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Schaudt's Funeral Service in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Chaplain Marvel Barron will officiate. Arrangements were entrusted to Daniel C.
