Mathieu Kelē Hertzog, 28, passed away on March 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and adventure. Mathieu was born on August 16, 1994, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Dirk and Roxann Hertzog, and grew up alongside his three siblings.
Mathieu played hard and loved deeply. He was an adventurous soul but also accident prone. He had countless stitches, bruises, and hospital trips as a child. He often helped his siblings learn new things such as flips on the trampoline, riding a bike, or new competitive games for all to enjoy. He graduated Union High School in 2012 and immediately set out to make some money at his family's company, BJM Consulting, which was named after his grandpa's first three grandchildren- Brittany, Jordan, and Mathieu. Mathieu worked at BJM for 4 years before leaving to obtain a degree at Spartan Aeronautics College in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2017.
Many can recall countless memories of Mathieu and his work ethic. He was a hard worker through and through. He was always willing to help and would jump right in without asking. Whether that was giving you a ride, fixing your car, or helping with yard work, he was who you called and he was always available. He never complained and helped with a smile. Mathieu had a contagious smile and unforgettable laugh that paired so well with his baby blue eyes.
He was passionate about his family and friends. His loving spirit shined through, and it was obvious in his natural abilities with children. As the oldest son, male cousin, and uncle to six he had a lot of experience with younger children in a big family. Mathieu was never afraid to hold a newborn baby and his playful demeanor could easily entertain little ones for hours. He was loving, caring, and compassionate. They loved him as much as he loved them. He had the most loving spirit.
Mathieu's standard greeting was a hug. There is no comparison for a Mathieu hug. He valued physical connection and made you feel so loved. His hugs will be greatly missed.
We know Mathieu was a believer and a follower of Jesus Christ. His parents set a foundation in the Christian faith from the very beginning. Mathieu had no shortage of prayers surrounding him throughout his life. He is now in Heaven and at peace.
He was joyously reunited to his grandfather, Dusty Gustin, Great Aunt Teri Kummer, Aunt Elizabeth Bristow, Aunt Theresa Gustin, Uncle David Hazlett and Uncle Vincent Hertzog.
