Mary Susan Walsh McFadden Miller, D.O., 68, died on February 22, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born February 3, 1949 in Monterey Park, California to Joseph Michael and Roseanne (Yocum) Walsh. At age 2, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Edward Cornelius and Margaret (Yocum) McFadden. Her family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her father died when she was only 14.
Susan graduated from Monte Cassino High School. She married Fredrick Harold Miller on December 31, 1969. The two of them moved to Seattle, Washington then to Norfolk, Virginia before moving to Tulsa. They had one daughter, Amy Michelle. Susan wanted to further her education and graduated from the University of Tulsa in three years. She went on to graduate from Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery with a Doctorate of Osteopathy.
She volunteered as a medical student and general practitioner for Community Action Project of Tulsa County (CAP Tulsa) began under the name “Project Get Together”. She was, one of only two doctors to service the shelters during the flood of 1986. She truly enjoyed helping people. She retired in 2001. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter and making jewelry.
She was preceded in death by parents and brother, Donald Walsh. Survivors include her daughter, Amy Michelle Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Claudia and husband, Bob; relatives, Kimberly Walsh and her children, Amber and Malcolm Bandy of Citrus Heights, California.
