Mary Louise (Shackelton) Terrill died on Friday, July 19, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma following a short illness and fall. She was born to Birdie Viola and Joseph Shackelton on July 10, 1930 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Dale Terrill, on December 22, 1951 in the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Okmulgee.
Mary graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1947. After a few moves to various other cities, she returned to Okmulgee to raise a family. She worked for many years for the Miller and Gill Clinic and Rayburn Bell Construction Company in Okmulgee. She and Bob moved their family to Tulsa in 1974, where Bob was employed by Cities Service/Citgo. She joined the Cities Service/Citgo office and worked in the oil and gas department for 16 years, retiring from there in 1993. She then worked in the before and after school care program at the Mingo Valley Christian School and upon retiring from this second job, then volunteered at the school 2-3 days a week. Mary loved being around the children, almost as much as she loved gardening! Her backyard was a gardener’s haven and quite the showplace and gave her many, many hours of enjoyment.
Mary’s Norman family wanted her close to them and moved her to Norman in 2016. She eventually moved into the Rivermont Independent Living Center, where she made many new friends with her contagious smile and kind words. Mary was always the gracious hostess and wanted everyone to feel welcome, even during Rivermont’s Friends and Family dinner events!
She was predeceased by her parents, beloved spouse, Bob, and her siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Patty Wadsack and husband Charles of Norman and Sharon Harkey and husband Steve of Tulsa; her six grandchildren, Chris Fourcade, Norman, OK, Robert Wadsack and wife Tiffany, Gilbert, Arizona, Patrick Wadsack and wife Megan, Norman, OK, Rachael Hagen & husband Josh, Tulsa, OK, Laura Harkey, Tulsa, OK and Ethan Harkey, Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Emerson, Conner and Ella Kate Hagen, Elena Wadsack and Sloan Wadsack and they were the loves of her life!
