Mary Louise Rice, 85, passed away November 10, 2008 at the Glenpool Health Care Facility, Glenpool, OK
Born Mary Louise Harris, daughter of Leo and Oma Harris on October 27, 1923, Mary Lou graduated from Central High School in 1941 and then worked at Bell Telephone Company until 1950. She later worked at Lily Tulip and was a seamstress at Neff's Clothing Store until she retired.
She married Pete Rice on August 4, 1946. They had a daughter, Georgine in 1950 and a son, Richard in 1954. Both Mary Lou and Pete were very active in the Second Baptist Church, with Mary Lou working in Bible School and the YWA's and Pete working with the Royal Ambassadors. She was a life long member of the Elizabeth Class.
During their married life, Pete and Mary Lou were inseparable. They enjoyed camping, floating the rivers of Missouri and their time at Table Rock Lake.
Mary Lou enjoyed gospel music very much. She enjoyed listening to the old favorites such as Bill Gaither, and the Statler Brothers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Pete. She is survived by her brother: Bob Harris and wife Betty of Strafford, daughter: Georgine and husband Bill Sweatt of Tulsa, Oklahoma and her son: Richard, and his wife Betsey; grandchildren: Allison and Andrew of Ozark, Mo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as her Aunt Virginia Hensley of Strafford.
Funeral services will be held at Klinger-Cope Funeral Home at the White Chapel Cemetery Friday at 2:00 p.m. with visitation prior to the service. The Reverend Leon Riddle will be officiating.
