Mary Lavern Dale

Mary LaVern (Curry) Dale, the sixth and youngest child of Arnold Douglas and Almira Curry was born June 26, 1918 near Lineville, Iowa and passed away in Sapulpa, Oklahoma February 6, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Mary LaVern, the baby of the family, was doted on by her older brothers and sisters.
Mary LaVern was united in marriage with Vere Ross Dale on September 4, 1937 in Shenandoah, Iowa. To this union two children were born; Basil Ross in 1939 and Beverly Ann in 1945.
Mary LaVern was a member of Lineville Assembly of God Church and also active in the local LeRoy Presbyterian Church. Mary LaVern helped prepare many church meals and assisted families in the area as needed.
Mary LaVern lived her life in Decatur and Wayne Counties in Iowa. Mary LaVern and Vere began married life on a farm near Pleasanton and during the 1940's she and Vere purchased their farm near LeRoy. In 1979 they retired to Humeston where Mary LaVern resided until Vere's death in 1998. Mary LaVern spent her last years in Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near her daughter, Beverly Keefe.
Prior to Vere's death in 1998 Mary LaVern and Vere spent many winters traveling and residing in Florida. They loved the winter trips, spending winters in Florida was something they both enjoyed greatly. Beverly and family joined them for Christmas in Florida for many years.
Preceding Mary LaVern in death were her husband, Vere Dale; parents, Arnold Douglas and Almira Curry; sister, Coral Vaughn; sister, Lela Curry; sister, Thelma Browning; brother, Raymond Curry and brother, Clelland Curry.
Survivors include: son €“ Basil and wife, Patricia, Las Vegas, NV; daughter €“ Beverly (Dale) Keefe and husband, Stan, Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Rhonda Petty and husband, Richard, Chandler, AZ; Brenda Mantooth and husband, Scott, Columbia, MO; Linda Newport and husband, Donald, Las Vegas, NV; Tammie Carlson and husband, Eric, Tulsa, OK; and Tim Keefe, San Francisco, CA ; 4 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. February 10, 2004 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home Chapel in Leon, Iowa. The family entrusted Daniel C.
