Marlene Gail Luitwieler

July 18, 1942 — July 17, 2005

Luitwieler, Marlene Gail (Frederick) died Sunday, July 17th at the family's Lakehouse of a sudden and massive heart attack. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 18th, 1942 to Marie and Ed Frederick, who preceded her in death. She was a wonderful wife, sister, friend, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother who impacted many lives over the past 62 years.
Her brothers, Russ and Ken Frederick and their spouses live in Cody, Wyoming and Atherton, CA respectively€“all part of Marlene's circle of family and friends.
In December 1966 she married Pete Luitwieler and after living in many locations throughout the US and London with Gulf Oil, they made one final and happy relocation. To take a key job with CITGO, Pete and Marlene moved to Tulsa in January 1985 with their three children €“ Mark Edward, Kurt Andrew and Gayle Elizabeth. All three are now married and living in the Tulsa area, which brought great joy to Marlene. She welcomed the growing family of Mark and Michelle with their 3 children Madison, Mallorie, and Mitchell; the expanding family of Kurt & Jen with their three children Abigail, Bronwyn, and Elliot; and Gayle and Ryan Dicus with their beautiful family of large and small dogs and horses. Marlene loved them all and enjoyed doing things for them.
Marlene was an excellent cook and ran a catering business in Pittsburgh, publishing a cookbook in recent years. She was also a staunch Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed NASCAR Racing following the CITGO drivers. She had many talents, especially her creativity with arts and crafts. She recently branched into embroidery, where she again excelled in making others happy with her gifts €“ especially to her 6 grandchildren.
She also helped out many others through her involvements with the South Tulsa Garden Club, Habitat for Humanity of Tulsa, SPCA of Tulsa, Fellowship Lutheran Church, and her special new Project €“ HUGS. This group of women has been sending cool-ties and other needed items to US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marlene tended to quietly help out and reach out to friends, family, and also to people she barely knew. Those who knew her will sorely miss her.
Visitations will be held Thursday from 9AM to 8PM and on Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM, Friday at the Fellowship Lutheran Church at 6727 S. Sheridan Rd. in Tulsa, OK (918-492-3698). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marlene's name to any of the following three wonderful organizations.
€¢Tulsa SPCA
€¢Tulsa Habitat for Humanity

A person I will miss

My Grandma was special to me because she was like one of my best friends. We had fun doing sewing lessons, cooking lessons, and gardening lessons. I will miss playing the pajama game, fishing with her and just being around her. She was beautiful. I will tell my sister and brother about her. I love her and I will miss her.
