Mark Humphries, 46, passed away Friday, May 10, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He left this world and his beautiful, vibrant family far too early. Dedicated husband, father, son and friend, Mark will be missed by so many.
Mark graduated from Hinsdale South High School in Illinois where he was an All-American gymnast and talented golfer. He graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a degree in Finance and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He spent his accounting and finance career working in various industries including insurance, construction and communications.
Mark’s children and wife filled him with pride and joy. He met his wife, Cherie, through the Southeast Tulsa Jaycees organization and they were married for 15 years. Taking family vacations to Disney World, Panama City Beach, ski trips in Colorado and countless road trips for hockey tournaments, the two created lasting memories that Cherie and their two beautiful children will forever treasure.
Mark loved life. He enjoyed playing golf with his wife, brother, cousins and friends. As an adult, he taught himself to play the electric guitar and started playing in a men’s hockey league. He became quite a skilled fly fisherman and enjoyed regular fishing trips with close friends. He enjoyed going to concerts, traveling and holiday gatherings. He adored his children and especially delighted in encouraging their activities like hockey, golf, lacrosse and band. Mark’s enthusiasm and keen sense of humor will be missed by family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cherie; two children; mother Beverly Hood of Tulsa; brother Ron Humphries and wife Beverly of Tulsa; sister Heather Hundley and husband Benji of Broken Arrow; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Louie Humphries, Jr.
A private celebration of life ceremony will be held on May 23. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society – Melanoma Research or a charity of your choice in Mark’s memory.
