Marilynn J Mills

April 16, 1948 — February 3, 2022

Marilynn Jean Mills
April 16, 1948-February 3, 2022

Marilynn was born Friday, April 16, 1948 in Pierre, South Dakota to Alfred and Doris Kuper of Highmore, South Dakota. She had 3 sisters and 1 brother: Barbara (Terry); Ngaire; James Daniel (Jean); Bonny (Terry).

In her youth she enjoyed playing the flute, riding bikes and spending summers on the farm with Aunt Edna and Uncle Honus.

When she was in high school she met "the most wonderful guy she ever knew", Airman 2C James Robert Mills. They had many adventures while dating and they soon got engaged. They married on August 27, 1966.

Together she and J.R. welcomed three children, Nancy Dawn, David James, and Jonathon Mark. They would later also welcome Jennifer Lei Kuper into their home.

Marilynn retired from St. Francis Medical Center where she worked as a Patient Account Supervisor for thirty years. She was a friend and mentor to many who worked with her there.

Like her parents before her, she loved spending time with family and friends at the lake fishing. She was an avid fisherman, cook, gardener and prayer warrior. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders in her backyard. She enjoyed barbequing and was an amazing cook. Regardless of how many people were there, she would make enough to feed an army.

Marilynn was affectionately known as Memaw and Auntie M to those most dear to her heart, her grandchildren: Andrew & Courtney Wilson, Justin Wilson, Seth & Dani Wilson; Stephanie Mills, Jessica Mills; Hannah Mills, Madison Mills; Elizabeth & Kelly Renfro & Bradley Nail. As well as her great grands: Wyatt James Wilson, Mason Wilson, Raylei Bishop, and Kinley Renfro.
Marilynn loved well and was well loved by all who knew her no matter how briefly.
She is preceded in death by both parents as well as her two dear sisters, Bonny Kay and Ngaire Elizabeth.
