Maria Yvette Stephens

Maria Yvette Stephens of Okmulgee, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 56.

Maria was born in Peoria, Illinois on February 21, 1965, to father, Lester Morris and mother, Berneice Morris. The youngest of five children, Maria and her family relocated to California in 1973. After the passing of her father, Lester, Maria's mother remarried Chuck Powers who became a vital role model in her life. From a young age Maria was known for her authenticity, passion, and loyalty.

Maria loved nature and never felt more true to herself than when she was horseback riding. Maria spent the 90's welcoming her two daughters and in 2000 took a leap of faith and relocated her daughters and herself to Oklahoma. Maria met James Stephens in 2006 and the next 16 years have been spent merging their families and building a love that continues to be truly infinite. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was her ever growing family.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Lester Morris, Berneice Powers, Chuck Powers, her brother, Brady Morris, and son, David Stephens. She is survived by her husband James Stephens, children; Sarah Culley and husband, Aaron Culley, Joey Stephens, Tabitha Hoffman, Emily DelaCruz, and husband, Brandon DelaCruz, grandchildren; Addison Culley, Rylie Culley, Dayton Culley, Kennedy Culley, Christian Stephens, Randi Stephens, Dustin Stephens, Zander DelaCruz , Landon DelaCruz, Gavin DelaCruz , and Serenity DelaCruz, siblings; Monica LeClair, Denise Capitelli, Michael Morris as well as countless extended family and dear friends. All held her in the highest respect and loved her deeply.

A memorial for Maria will be held at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel, 220 S Alabama Ave, Okmulgee, Oklahoma 74447 on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 1pm. All are invited to attend.
