Upon retiring in 1987, Margot and Neil relocated to Keystone Lake near Mannford, motivated by their affinity for fishing and camping, as well as the proximity to their daughters. Margot obtained her United States citizenship on September 11th, 2002, having embraced her identity as an American while maintaining her ties to her homeland and family in Germany. Margot lived her life with profound love and determination for her loved ones, supported by her strong faith in the Lord.

Margot was a member of Albright United Methodist Church in Ponca City, OK, First United Methodist Church in Mannford, OK, and once she moved to Tulsa, she joined Asbury Church. Margot loved the people, and served with the Vacation Bible Study, and prayer groups.
