Margibeth "Margie" Sunny

Margibeth ‘Margie’ Sunny, Catoosa resident, passed away on her 82nd birthday on Friday, June 23, 2017.

Margie was born on June 23, 1935 in Welch, Okla. to parents Perry and Ruth Powell. She graduated from Vinita High School in 1935 and shortly thereafter, married the love of her life, Tom Barnett Sunny on July 5, 1957.

After they were married, the couple lived in Tulsa until 1963, when they moved into their home in the Rolling Hills addition in Catoosa, where Margie took pride in raising their two sons, Walter and Tommy.
A lifetime homemaker, Margie was a member of the Cherokee Nation, as well as a part of the Wagoner County Election Board beginning in 1972, and serving as precinct head from 1976 until she left the Board in 2011.

Quiet but playful in nature, Margie will forever be remembered by her family for her generous heart, her smile, her laugh and her always being a loving encourager and precious mom and family member.

Margie is survived by her sons, Walter Sunny and wife, Lesa of Catoosa, and Tommy Sunny and wife, Jennifer of Broken Arrow, grandchildren, Morgan, Kathryn, and Rebecca Sunny, sisters, Patsy Graves of Phoenix, Ariz. and Emma Brown in Vinita, Okla., as well as several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom and an infant child.

A wake in her honor will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service, 220 S. Alabama in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Schaudt’s Funeral Service Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
