Margaret Petty

May 18, 1938 — June 24, 2024

Margaret Oletus Petty was born on May 18, 1938, in Bassett, AR, to Dorothy Louise Duck, growing up under the care of her mother and step father James "Red" Duck. She passed from this life on June 24, 2024, at the age of 86 in Alabama.

As the eldest of nine siblings, Margaret spent her early years on the family farm in Arkansas, where she graduated from high school. Her childhood was marked by hard work, particularly picking cotton alongside her family.

In the 1980s, Margaret moved to Glenpool, Oklahoma, where she obtained her Real Estate Broker's License. She initially worked with Jones and Jones Realty and later with Realty Network. Her dedication to the community extended beyond her professional life; she served the City of Glenpool for many years as a City Council member, Planning Commission member, and Chamber of Commerce member. Her significant contributions were recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to giving back to the Glenpool community. She was known as a loving Nana and the Big Boss, a hardworking woman who grew from humble beginnings in Arkansas. Margaret deeply loved her family and played an instrumental role in guiding her grandchildren toward higher education. Family reunions in Arkansas, where she enjoyed playing cards with her brothers and sisters, were special to her.

Margaret was known for her thrifty nature, often buying her clothes at Sam's Club or Lands' End. Despite her many talents, cooking was not her strong suit. Nonetheless, her legacy of love, hard work, and community service will be cherished by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, fathers, and grandson RJ Jones.

Margaret is survived by Siblings: Geraldine Hutchins, Gladys Hughes, James (Rick) Duck, Glen Wayne Duck, Terry Dean Duck, Mary Jo Luebke, Carlos Duck, Steven Duck, her children: Cindy Minick, Nick Richardson, Sherry Chandler, Karen Crooker, Joey Richardson, her grandchildren: Liz Holmes, Joanie Jones, Joseph Chandler, Jennifer Williams, Joshua Crooker, Carrie Wasson, Amanda Minick, Brady Richardson, Kandi Richardson, Erin Arnett, and many beloved great grandchildren.
