Mai Thao

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery honoring and remembering the life of Mai Thao. Mai Thao passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018. She was 56.

Mai Thao was born April 5, 1961 in Xiengkhouang, Laos. She was the daughter of Ju Her Thao and Zong Cher Thao.

She met her husband, Blong Yang in a refugee camp in Thailand. They got married June 6, 1978 in the refugee camp and started their lives together. Not long after their marriage they moved to California on May 14, 1980. Together they have lived in Kansas, Tennessee, Wisconsin and finally moved to Oklahoma in July of 2007.

Mai was a member at Tulsa Hmong Alliance Church.

In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and listening to music. Mai was also loved to garden. She grew delicious vegetables and herbs for her family and friends but her favorite thing to do was to worship the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ju Her Thao and Zong Cher Thao.

Survivors include her husband, Blong Yang; four daughters, Jayne Vang and her husband, Tou, Ntshua Yang, Mayah Her and her husband, Terry, and Kia Poechtrager and her husband, Josef; three sons, Ching Yang, Yen Yang, and King Yang. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, Violet Vang, Joseph Vang, Joshua Vang, Jacob Vang, Summer Yang, Charity Yang, Sarina Yang, Kenichi Vue, Aiyan Her, Heidi Her, Allan Her, and Tristan Her.

Viewing will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 8 AM to 8 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service.
