Lucy Irene (Baughn) Elmore went to be with her Heavenly Father from her home in Kiefer, Oklahoma on June 26, 2021. One hundred and one years old, Irene was born in Coalton, Oklahoma on September 6, 1919 to Richard Benjamin Baughn and Iva Jerlee (Hobbs) Baughn.
Irene married her Beggs High School sweetheart, Alvin L. Elmore on September 6, (her birthday) 1937. After 59 years of marriage Alvin went to Heaven in 1996.
Besides her parents, husband, and a stillborn son, Irene was preceded in death by eleven siblings, and a great-grandson, and daughter-in-law. She is survived by one brother; Tug and wife Phyllis, sons; Loren and Ron along with his wife Margie, daughter; Karen Neal and her husband Danny, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Irene loved to sing, especially southern gospel, and her church hymns. She served as a choir member and ladies Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years.
Another of her lifelong hobbies was snapping photos of everyone and everything filling many, many, photo albums. Irene loved to go fishing. She would grab her old sun hat, rod, and reel when Alvin just said the word. She went to Heaven with the peaceful assurance that her family who left this earth ahead of her, would be there with Jesus to greet and welcome her into her new Heavenly home.
Irene was such a prayer warrior and witness for Jesus and will be so greatly missed by those who loved her. She was so anxious to receive her "Brand New Body" just like Jesus. Before she left us, she stated so many times that her great desire was that all of the family members and friends she was leaving behind would be sure to make the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, so she could greet and welcome them into Heaven to live forever with her and the Lord Jesus.
Her 100th Birthday was celebrated with so many family members and friends that afterward (with a huge smile) she claimed that not only had she already had her memorial service while living and could enjoy it, but she even got to sing at it.
Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers. Family and friends may leave kind words of comfort, special memories and condolences to the family online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com
"No Winter Will Come"
As I looked out my window today
I noticed the trees, so bare and gray.
I saw the grass was turning dull brown,
I listened for birds but heard not a sound.
The gate swung shut by the brisk winter wind,
And I saw withered stems where flowers had been.
I thought of last spring, how time had passed,
Somehow I'd thought the springtime would last.
With grass so green, the sound of birds singing,
Children playing with laughter ringing.
The fragrance of flowers, the gentle breeze,
And the lacy, new look of the budding trees.
But, they're all gone, not a green leaf to see.
Then something stirred down deep within me,
And I knew that beneath the dull brown and gray,
There was life just waiting for that perfect day
When time would come for life anew
And from my window, Spring I would view.
I thought of my life, so short it did seem,
So quickly I'd traveled through life's time of spring.
Now it is winter, my footsteps are slow,
But new life is waiting in Heaven, I know.
Springtime is coming; I'll shine with the "Son"
I'll live on forever, "No Winter Will Come."
- Margie Elmore
Psalms 90:10
"The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years yet is their strength, labor, and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." ... Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away."
"Safely Home"
I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright.
There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed.
I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still.
Try to look beyond death's shadows; Pray to trust our Father's will.
There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand.
Do it now, while life remaineth; You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home.
Oh, the rapture of that meeting; Oh, the joy to see you come!
