A memorial service will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11 AM honoring and remembering the life of Lourie Irene (Bell) Davis at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel. Lourie passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 with her family by her side. She was 87.
Lourie was born April 8, 1930 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Irene (Rodgers) Bell and Currie Oscar Bell.
She was a 1947 graduate from Clovis High School. She continued her education at West Texas College for her undergraduate and her Master's in education.
On August 21, 1950 Lourie married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" E. Davis in Clovis, New Mexico. They met a few months earlier at a square dance in Oklahoma and then had their first date on July 4th watching the fireworks.
Together they began their life in Gauge, Oklahoma and moved to Clovis, New Mexico in 1950. They have also lived in Julesburg, Colorado; Worland and Buffalo, Wyoming; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Amarillo, Texas; and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965, where she taught elementary school until changing her career focus to computer programming with the National Bank of Tulsa (NBT).
Lourie was the Director of Information Services for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She also was employed at Oklahoma State University Okmulgee where she taught computer science until she retired in 1995.
Lourie served as an Intertel Regional Director, as administrative officer, as the editor of Integra and served as president of INTERTEL for two terms (8 years), which allowed her to travel all over the United States with her husband, Bob. She was an intelligent person and always looking for way to help promote the intellect of her fellow members and others.
Lourie brought her friendly, no-nonsense, warm and inquiring personality to all interactions and issues. Her objective outlook, her practical sense of solving problems – and her keen intellect for focusing on the details that needed to be put in balance to accomplish the task at hand – made her an excellent leader. She was able to step outside of her personal ego and preferences to work with others to find the best answer to any question presented.
All were fortunate to know Lourie and have an opportunity to see her in action, using her finely honed problem-solving skills. She had a contagious laughter and a loving soul. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene Bell and Currie Oscar Bell; daughter, Judith “Diki” Davis; grandson, Dustin Thomas; and a nephew, Christopher Brown.
Survivors include her loving husband, Bob Davis, son, Patrick Davis and his wife, Roxana; grandkids, Flint Davis, Jamie Davis, Kayra Pearson, Sarai Guild, Louriana Davis, Michael Davis and Amber Davis; and great-grandchildren, Taryn Guild, Elias Guild, and Dustin Davis. She also leaves a sister, Linda Brown and her husband, Harvey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lourie Irene Davis to the Alzheimer's Association Oklahoma Chapter; 2448 E. 81st St #3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.
