Okmulgee resident Loretta Denny walked on Feb. 17, 2022, less than two months shy of her 70th birthday on April 7, 1952.
A member of Belvin Baptist Church, Loretta enjoyed beading, singing with Native Praise, following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to sporting events and playing the piano. She was an avid Facebook junkie and enjoyed playing games on her phone. She was known across northeastern Oklahoma, even at the Owasso Eighth Grade Center, for her championship frybread and Indian tacos.
Loretta had a kind heart and was known for welcoming people into her home and her heart so frequently that she was often referred to as "Mama Denny" or "Mama Loretta." Falls Creek campers will miss her Chinese Ninja biscuits.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Elliott and Cora Leitka, her daughter, Margie Denny-Wallen, her son, Morgan Denny, her grandson, Morgan Denny Jr., and her great-granddaughter, Maliyah.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Milton Denny, Sr., along with her sons Brian Kanuho, Matthew and Milton Jr. and wife Rachel Denny; her daughter Christine, son-in-law Michael Wallen, 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Belvin Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Followed by a wake service beginning at 6:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Belvin Baptist Church followed by a graveside service at the Buck Family Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Services have been entrusted to Schaudt Okmulgee Funeral Service. Friends and family may leave condolences and kind words of comfort at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com
