Lorene Huckstep

Erma Lorene Huckstep, a resident of Okmulgee, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the age of 86. She was born February 21, 1925 in Seminole, OK to Daniel Webster Evans, Jr. and Rexie Gertrude (Gilbert) Evans in Seminole, Oklahoma. She married Lester Casey in 1951 and had two daughters. Lorene served as a Sunday School Teacher at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Okmulgee, OK and was ordained into the ministry in 1972. She organized and pastored the Lakeview Community Church outside of Okmulgee for eight years. Her husband Lester passed away in 1982. In 1987, Lorene married Carl Huckstep, her childhood sweetheart, after a separation of 42 years. Carl passed away on September 20, 2010. Lorene is survived by two daughters, Ramona Ross and husband David of Okmulgee, and Cheryl Crichley and husband Tim of Okmulgee and Oklahoma City. She is also survived by Carl’s daughter, Carla Rathbone and husband Robert of Maranna, Arizona, and by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends. Services for Lorene will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 1:00pm at the First Assembly of God Church of Okmulgee with Pastor Raymond Doke officiating and Pastor Tommy Laxton of Lakeview Community Church assisting. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
